Jeff Loewy is the President and CEO of Tirschwell & Loewy. He joined J. Tirschwell & Co. as Executive Vice President in 1981 — which then became Tirschwell & Loewy, Inc. Mr. Loewy has more than 40 years of experience in both research and portfolio management.
Mr. Loewy had formerly been a Partner at Oppenheimer & Co. and an Assistant Vice President and a Portfolio Manager in the Trust Division of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. He earned his B.B.A. degree at Ohio University and his M.B.A at Columbia University.
Mr. Loewy is the past Chairman of the Board of the American Federation of Arts (AFA) and has served as President and a member of the Board of the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood. He was the past President of the New York Association for New Americans (NYANA), and served on its Board for over 25 years. NYANA was one of the largest refugee resettlement organizations in the U.S. He has been on the Board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) for 20 years; past Chairman of the Endowment Committee of the AFA; and is a current Board Member of the New York Chapter of the American Jewish Committee. He is a member of the Board of Temple Emanu-el in New York City where he also serves as Chairman of their investment committee. Jeff is a member of the Board of Directors of Guild Hall, Easthampton, N.Y.
Howard Friedner is Executive Vice President and a Principal of Tirschwell & Loewy. He is the Senior Portfolio Manager of the firm.
Mr. Friedner joined Tirschwell & Loewy in 2002 and has over 30 years of investment and advisory experience including ten years as a corporate lawyer at major New York law firms and J.P. Morgan where he engaged in a wide variety of corporate finance, securities, merger & acquisition and private equity transactions.
Mr. Friedner has been involved in all aspects of the investment management business, including research, valuation, portfolio management, and advising clients with a focus on high net worth individuals, families, endowments, foundations and similar institutions.
Mr. Friedner earned his B.A. at Columbia University in 1981, an M.A. at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs in 1982 and his J.D. at Columbia Law School in 1985. Mr. Friedner participates in a variety of community activities and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
William Butler is Vice President, a Portfolio Manager and Research Director at Tirschwell & Loewy. He joined the firm in 2007. Mr. Butler has over 25 years’ experience in equity research, portfolio management and advising on financial matters.
Mr. Butler previously spent eight years as a portfolio manager for the asset management divisions of Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette where he was responsible for managing over $1.5 billion in core equity portfolios for institutional and private clients.
Mr. Butler earned his B.A. in Economics at the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and his M.B.A. in Finance at the University of Chicago in 1989. He has held the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 1998.
Mr. Butler is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts.
Karen Glassman is Chief Marketing Officer of Tirschwell & Loewy, having joined the firm in 2007. As a senior part of the management team, her responsibilities include all marketing, media, client service and new business development worldwide. Ms. Glassman has been a leader in the field of global affluent investing and high-net worth finance for more than 25 years. Ms. Glassman’s inherent creativity, extensive knowledge, and worldwide contacts have been distinguishing hallmarks of her career.
Formerly Deputy Managing Director of W.P. Stewart Asset Management Ltd., Ms. Glassman served as a member of the International team since 2003, focusing on the high net worth area of the business.
Prior to joining W.P.Stewart, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Papamarkou & Company, Inc., an asset management firm with more than $3 billion in assets under management. From 1986 to 1992 she was employed by Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. and was the first and only female arbitrage trader employed by the firm. Ms. Glassman began her career at Bear Stearns in the International department covering all overseas offices for research and trading.
Ms. Glassman graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ithaca College in both music and finance. She has been a member of the Rockefeller University Council and the New York City Mentoring Program.
Hendrea (Henny) joined Tirschwell & Loewy in 1987. She is involved in all aspects of client service, regulatory filings and office operations. Henny serves as the firm’s financial accounting software specialist.
Sandy joined Tirschwell & Loewy in 2007 as receptionist, administrative specialist and a member of the client service team.
Prior to Tirschwell & Loewy, Sandy was employed by Fred Alger Management as administrative assistant to the Vice Chairman, Chief Marketing Officer.
